Please be aware that applications are not necessarily on a ‘first
come - first served’ basis, but rather, each application is
matched to individual dogs and their needs and the most
appropriate potential home is chosen. It may take a few
weeks for a decision to be made as the foster carer(s) and
the Rescue Co-ordinator will carefully assess each application
as our priority is to find exactly the right home for that

Captains Flat, near
Chester was impounded at Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council
Animal Facility and then surrendered by his owners. He is
registered as a Beagle X and although he is a big boy he looks
and acts all beagle
Chester was given a behavioural test at the Facility and passed
with flying colours. Here are some of the comments -
"relaxed, friendly, easy to handle, playful with no sign of
kennel stress". Will be happy to share the full assessment
with anyone genuinely interested in adopting Chester.
Preferably we would like a home where there is another beagle or
social breed of dog to keep him company
and/or someone who is home most of the time. Beagles are pack
dogs and do need company as they do not do well when left on
their own for long hours.
Chester has been ....
- Health & temperament checked
- C5 Vaccinated
- Annual heartworm vaccinated
- Started on
regular flea and worming treatment
|Notes from Chester's foster carer,
is a big boy (25.8 kg) and the gentlest of giants. He gets on
well with other dogs, big and small and cats adore him. Chester
is not an escape artist, a digger or chewer. Nor does he bark
excessively (just as well as he has a very loud bay).
Chester likes nothing better
than hanging out with you whatever you are doing. Despite his
youth, he is neither rambunctious or high energy and doesn’t
jump up. He is well-trained at walking on a lead and does not
pull. On occasion, when he sees something especially
interesting, he forgets his training and becomes over-excited.
However, he responds when corrected.
One of the most placid and
undemanding boys you could meet, Chester is also house-trained
and well-behaved travelling in the car.
